About the

Cause

Hi there! Autumn Dream here! Before I get into the wonderful organizations this bard festival is meant to support, I personally wanted to tell you my story, and about why I chose to do this event, and why I chose the organizations I did.Quite a few years ago, my mom had 2 brain aneurysms. I got a phone call that she was not going to make it. (I lived far away at the time from her). The next thing I knew, I was on a flight to Chicago, where she had been transported to, supposedly to say my last goodbyes.Well, my mom was very lucky, because the place they took her to is one of the top teaching and research hospitals in the country, especially for neurosurgery. She had what was at the time, a very experimental procedure, and she survived. And from what I know, many people after her have survived from this procedure as well.Unfortunately, my mom is no longer with us, and hasn't been for a few years now, because the body sometimes will never recover from something that traumatic. Regardless, I got 9 more years of borrowed time. Precious years. Since she has passed, I had often thought that I would like to do something meaningful for the organizations that make something like the surgery my mom got possible. I have for many years chosen a charity to work with once a year, but always something local to me, something I could personally touch and be involved in.When I made Desperado Music Hall, my only thought was to give a cool concert venue a life in FFXIV and offer it to Bards and Bands to use any time they liked. I never planned to throw an event there myself. But it sat unused for a while, and I decided I would go ahead and make one anyway, just for it not to be a waste. During this time, I was also thinking about my mom a lot. Sometimes you really just need your mom, and I was having a hard time. So, I decided that I would make my event something meaningful, in her memory and finally support some of the places that gave me her for a little longer. This event is in memorial to Kailahe
You are always in my heart.
-Autumn
